A business never operates in isolation. It grows within a community, connects with people and builds relationships. Over time, it becomes part of a wider network that extends beyond its facilities and financial performance.
For FASS, building strong community connections means recognising this relationship and turning it into meaningful action. This approach to business begins with the company’s ties to Larciano, where FASS was founded, and has taken shape over the years through support for projects in sport, education, healthcare, social welfare and the environment.
These are not one-off initiatives. FASS’s Sustainability Report also quantifies this aspect of the company’s activities: between 2021 and 2023, the company donated €34,605 to organisations working in sport, healthcare, social welfare, art and culture.
Behind these figures, however, are people, stories and relationships.
Rooted in the local community, looking further afield
Some of these relationships are deeply rooted in the history of the Niccolai family and the company itself. One example is Larcianese, a local sports club with particularly close ties to the Niccolai family. Another is the Gran Premio Industria e Artigianato, a cycling race that has brought sporting events, community participation and a strong local presence to Larciano for many years.
Although different in nature, both reflect the same approach: supporting initiatives that bring people together, strengthen community ties and foster connections between individuals, associations and businesses.
The same principle guides FASS’s work with younger generations.
Its collaboration with Istituto Comprensivo Ferrucci in Larciano has led to projects that bring the school and the local community closer together. These include an initiative exploring the history of broom-making, a manufacturing tradition deeply rooted in the area. The initiative also featured in the latest edition of Estrobilia.
FASS also funded an English course for students during the 2025–2026 school year.
While these initiatives address different needs, they share a common purpose: preserving and passing on local heritage while giving younger generations practical skills for the future.
This is where the value of strong community connections becomes particularly clear. It is not simply about supporting individual organisations, but about fostering links between business, education, culture and learning.
A responsibility that extends beyond the company
Over time, FASS’s network of relationships has grown to include initiatives beyond the local community.
Its environmental commitments, for example, have led to support for Treedom, contributing to tree-planting projects that deliver environmental and social benefits in different parts of the world.
In its social engagement, FASS supports organisations such as 365giornialfemminile, which works to prevent and combat gender-based violence, and the Tommasino Baciotti Foundation, which supports children receiving treatment at Meyer Children’s Hospital in Florence and their families, while also funding medical research.
Alongside these partnerships, FASS has made numerous other donations and contributions over the years, particularly in healthcare and education.
These projects differ in scale, beneficiaries and objectives. Taken together, however, they reflect a broader commitment to supporting organisations that work every day to improve people’s lives and the communities in which they live.
The value of growing together
Corporate social responsibility also means considering what a company contributes beyond its financial results.
For FASS, the answer lies in the relationships it has built over time: from those closest to home, rooted in Larciano and intertwined with the company’s history, to environmental and social initiatives that extend its commitment beyond the local community.
Building strong community connections means creating shared value. Supporting a school means investing in the skills of future generations. Supporting sport helps bring people together and encourages participation. Contributing to research and social initiatives helps strengthen the organisations that care for people every day.
This commitment takes shape through both major projects and smaller contributions. Above all, it is reflected in FASS’s continued involvement over time.
Ultimately, a company’s growth should be measured not only by what it achieves for itself, but also by what it helps build around it.
