The night of trick or treating is almost here, and we’ve found some great tricks to ensure that the unwanted little guests in your home stay away!
That’s right, apart from Halloween night, the presence of spider webs in your home can be annoying and aesthetically unpleasing. That’s why we’ve selected some useful and practical tips you can follow to prevent and reduce the appearance of spider webs.
Here’s what you’ll need:
1. Dust-catching broom with nets or electrostatic cloths
2. Aromatic oils or Tobacco Liquid (alternatively, commercial insect repellents)
3. Spray bottle
First, periodically remove dust and debris from your floors, corners, and surfaces. Use a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle for corners to reach the harder-to-clean areas. This way, you’ll remove potential food sources for insects that attract spiders. For optimal results, we recommend using a dust-catching broom (link https://www.fass.it prodotti/lavapavimentiecatturapolvere/catturapolvere/scopa-polvere/) with nets or electrostatic cloths that can capture most of the dust in your home.
It’s worth knowing that some essential oils, such as peppermint oil, lavender oil, and eucalyptus oil, are known to repel spiders. Mix a few drops of one of these oils with water in a spray bottle and spray the corners and areas where spider webs tend to form.
Alternatively, there are various readily available commercial insect repellents that can be used to keep spiders away. Apply these products in areas prone to spider web formation, always following the package instructions.
Another lesser-known but highly effective method is to boil natural tobacco in a bag of water, filter the mixture after it cools, and use it to moisten the exterior parts of your house where spiders might access. Our advice is to take all necessary precautions, wear protective gloves, and use a sponge during application.
There’s only one caveat: since the mixture has a brownish color, we recommend using it only in more hidden areas to avoid noticeable stains inside the house.
N.B. Keeping your garden or the area around your house well-maintained is crucial.
Remove fallen leaves, branches, and other debris that can provide shelter for spiders. Regular cleaning outside the house can help reduce the spider population in the vicinity! At this point, all that’s left is for you to give it a try and keep an eye out for spider webs!
